Wut I’s been doin

At level 29, I shouldn’t really be going into the bastion stair wings. However, being a healer, I’ve been allowed to go in. The left and right wings are both pretty cool, even if most of the left wing is absurdly easy to heal besides one of the PQ bosses (the lightning AoE one).As for the right wing we can’t do the endboss at this point, the AoEs do too much damage to heal in time. We tried the center wing, and managed to get 2/3 of the way through the *second?* PQ.

At the start of the middle wing, we did find something quite bad. The boss of the first PQ is a semi-large demon who must be dragged around the room, as the statues along the walls come alive and slowly walk towards the boss. if they reach him, his damage output goes up. The potential for qriefing here is large, and we got griefed badly. Another group pulled the boss and we joined in, it being a PQ. Their tank proceeded to drag the demon through as many statues as possible, then their group retreated, and we were stuck fighting an extremely powered-up demon. we only had two people up as the fight ended. I think a good idea here might be one-way doors into the boss room while he’s aggroed. By allowing people to enter the room, but not run out, you force them to fight for their own survival as well.

I’m level 29 now, RR 24. I’m not planning to level up to t4 before my RR hits 25, or preferably 26, so i can use at least 3/5 Devastator.

Well, um…Wow?

What a news overload. I don’t think anyone whatsoever was expecting that much of a schedule release from any games company. in that respect, we may’ve become too used to the way blizzard, sony and other companies have always done things – leaking news a little at a time.

The new live events sound pretty cool, and the only thing i’m worried about is whether this will go down as well as they say. Blizzard’s reps always say that they don’t announce things too far ahead in case they get changed as the date gets closer, and i’m slightly worried about how backlash could go if they annouce a delay.

On the other hand, Mythic hasn’t dropped the ball at all yet, and shows no real sign of doing it, so I trust them.

Choppas & Slayers

The Guild Wars Monk

I’m still surprised the Slayer is probably making an appearance, as I’m sure I remember Mythic saying Games Workshop would prefer not to implement them as a class. I’m curious as to:

  • how Mythic will explain them being resurrected – again, and again.
  • how are their items going to be done?  I’m hoping it’ll be similar to some of the Monk class’s armor, from Guild Wars – each piece of armor is a part of the overall tattoo. However, there is only so much detail and difference in tattoo look you can put in a MMO game engine, and
  • If they’re covered in tattoos, how would dyes work? dyeing a tattoo is on a slightly different level (physically speaking) to “i dyed my belt, now it is black / blue / red”.

As for the Choppa, that class was extremely likable in beta, and I can’t wait to play one again.

Kudos to http://wiki.guildwars.com for the image.

I’m back, (and Mythic has Valentines)

Due to some rather unforeseen circumstances I had to take a short break, but I’m back , and playing WAR again. the shaman is now level 25, has the t3 RvR chestpiece (Obliterator?) and can’t use it for another three levels / 7 renown ranks.

In the past week, Mythic appears to have sent out at least two hint packages -

  • Keen and Graev’s hair dye & clippers
  • The Greenskin’s predator DVD

Then in the last 24 hours:

The first two hinted at the incoming classes, and an announcement on the 29th (only two days away!!), while the second two seem to be hinting at a valentine’s live event….changed to suit WAR’s bloodthirsty nature, of course.

I’d like to ask if someone could link back to my Gunbad is Dead post, as i’d like mythic to at least see it.

It does feel good to be playing WAR again; i did miss the game, even though I don’t play it nearly as much as some games.

Gunbad is….dead.

Now, I love Gunbad. I’ve got about 50% total influence, so can only finish wing 1 (the right wing) at this point, but everything I’ve seen shows that for a release dungeon, Gunbad is pretty well-designed.

The problem is that Mythic have inadvertently killed it with the Orvr influence bars. Most players simply prefer to seige keeps (and sometimes, only seige keeps that aren’t defended…) and realise that the gear gained from the T3 orvr influence bars and the gold bags is superior in almost every case to the pve gear from Gunbad.

Pre-1.1, there were constant Gunbad groups running. Now, I’m lucky to see one every two days.
Mythic, please, we realise that endgame dungeons are probably of greater importance to you, but give gunbad some love – upgrade the gear from the wing endbosses and the influence bar to be at least on par with the orvr influence gear. It’s really sad to see this dungeon go to waste.

Disclaimer: i know some people hate gunbad because it’s long, it’s just PQs, it’s not interesting.
well, i frankly prefer the more open dungeon layout, without the cramped corridors and terrible mob pulls that plagued many other game instance dungeons (I’m looking at you, Blackfathom DeepsShattered Halls, Serpentshrine Cavern. And let’s not forget Gnomeregan).

Here’s the little guy

Thought I’d better show what said healer looks like. Note, my shoulders are from a full twelve levels ago and I have an upgrade waiting next level.
If you’re interesting in settings: I run WAR at 1680×1050 with all settings forced to max in my video options, as that improves my fps by up to 30.

The 20-35 Slog.

So I’m about 70% through level 22, and have been told by a few people that 20-35 is the hardest part of levelling; the idea being that 35+, you can go into a different pairing and do the 30-35 quests for that pairing to boost you. I’m not sure how true this is – a friend has torn though these levels in less than a week – but it appears everyone agrees that 20 is where it gets harder.

Syp will be happy to know that greenskin 21-24ish is set in Badlands, but then we move, thankfully, to Black Fire Pass to complete T3.

Up’n Running.

So I’ve been persuaded to start blogging by a few friends and the Blog Warhammer The Age of Blogging initiative. It’s great that Syp and other major WAR bloggers are attempting to get more people doing this.

This blog will be posted in about twice a week, and the main focus of it will be me levelling a Greenskin Shaman casually.
